In this project, the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences of the University of Tokyo aims to nurture human resources for reconstruction through educational and research activities that contribute to the creation of a sustainable community through “public-private-academic co-creation” with Shinchi Town in Fukushima Prefecture, the National Institute for Environmental Studies, and various local people and stakeholders.

This project aims to build a sustainable community in Shinchi Town, Fukushima Prefecture, through public-private-academic collaboration. UDC Shinchi, a project center, will play a leading role in creating regional energy scenarios, encouraging community members to participate in the project, producing media to communicate development progress, and supporting local activities. These efforts will also help develop human resources with reconstruction knowledge capable of contributing to creative community development by flexibly responding to reconstruction progress and internal/external social changes.
